It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patsy Ann Nelson. She died on October 10, 2024, age 87, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Gail Nelson in Cordova, Tennessee. Pat was born September 8, 1937 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Pat had a servant's heart and was a very energetic and loving lady.
Pat was a Class of '56 graduate of Whitehaven High School. She married Billy Nelson on June 2, 1956. Pat pursued a career in cosmetology and also taught cosmetology. She also worked many years as a school crossing guard at Willow Oaks Elementary School.
Pat was very young at heart and was always on the go, She was a long time member of Central Church and enjoyed worship and fellowship. On Wednesday mornings at Central Church she loved to play games with her friends. She delighted in serving dinners at Central's monthly senior fellowship, Come Alive. She was a greeter on Sunday mornings. She was the happiest when she was serving family and friends. She hosted the best holiday parties, especially the 4th of July and Christmas. She loved to travel and often took vacations to the beach and to the mountains with family as well as many trips with the Fraternal Order of Police and with her Sunday School class.
Pat's memory will forever be cherished. She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Hortense Linz, a sister, Martha Miller, and a brother, Charles Linz. She leaves behind her husband, Billy Nelson, and their two sons, Michael (wife Gail) and Charles (wife Kacky), seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Central Church, 2005 E. Winchester Blvd, Collierville, TN 38017. Visitation will be Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. with the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Memphis Memory Gardens on Raleigh-Lagrange Road following the service.
