

Raymond Lee Mullins Jr., 66 passed away August 9, 2014 at Germantown Methodist Hospital. He was a veteran of the United States Army, a graduate of Memphis State University, and an announcer for many local Memphis activities. He served as the announcer for The Mighty Sound of the South Marching Band for over 25 years, the PA announcer for Tiger Volleyball, Men’s and Women’s soccer, Tiger softball and Tiger baseball; Ray was the announcer for Briarcrest Athletics for 26 years; for the TSSAA Spring Fling and for the River City Band. He was a Sunday School teacher at Ridgeway Baptist Church for many years where he also served as narrator for many church productions. Mr. Mullins was a district manager for Wells-Fargo.
He is preceded in death by his father Raymond Lee Mullins Sr.; he leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Carolyn Mullins, three daughters: Kim (Don) Blair, Amy Morel, and Emily (Todd) Mashour; his mother Vadine Mullins, grandchildren Will Blair and Tate Mashour, and one brother Bobby (Wanda) Mullins.
The family will receive friends Monday, August 11, 2014 at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. Tuesday August 12, 2014 at Ridgeway Baptist Church with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family requests memorials be made to Ridgeway Baptist Church, Briarcrest Christian School or the University of Memphis Marching Band.
