

Richard Lewis Gruenewald, 89, a devoted husband, father, and friend passed away peacefully at his home Thursday, November 11, 2010. He was the former owner of Memphis Millinery, a partner of Bloch Brothers, and later a clothing manufacturing representative. Mr. Gruenewald was a member of Colonial Park United Methodist Church, where he was very active with the Methodist Men. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruby DePriest Gruenewald, parents Carl and Miriam Gruenewald, and a brother Ronald Gruenewald. He is survived by his daughters Pat Anthony (Bill) and Debbi Freeburg (Philip), and grandchildren Cindy Anthony, Elise Freeburg, and Philip Freeburg, Jr. He also leaves a brother Carl Gruenewald of Brownsville, TN. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 14 from 1p.m. until 2 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, Poplar Avenue, with a graveside service to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. He will not only be missed by his family and friends, but by the staff and residents at Kennington Pointe. The family requests that memorials be sent to Colonial United Methodist Church.
