Richard M. Owens, 71, of Memphis, Tennessee passed away on July 28, 2018. He was born September 17, 1946 in Mexico, Missouri to the late Lucille and James Owens. He was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Owens, and two brothers, Jim Owens and John Owens. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Lana Mohundro Owens.
After serving in the United States Air Force, Rick continued his love of flying by joining FedEx on "Day One" in 1973, retiring in 2006. He then founded Para Bellum, a handgun safety and carry-permit certification company which he operated with a friend for several years. Rick was also actively involved in community service as well as his church, Covenant Baptist in Collierville.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 31 from one o'clock until the time of the funeral service at two o'clock at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to a charity of donor's choice.
