Robert Colin Dood, age 85, of Moscow, Tennessee, retired Chief of Police for Rossville, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2022. Robert was born October 22, 1936 in Racine, Wisconsin. Robert served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Afterwards, he joined the Sheriff's Department in Racine. He later worked as Regional Manager (Southeastern U.S.) for Airport Security. He also worked as an Operations Manager for Mud Island River Park, where he met his wife, Cheryl. Finally, Robert joined the Rossville Police Department and rose to Chief of Police during the 1990s. Robert enjoyed traveling with his wife and family. He also enjoyed deer hunting and target shooting.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Cheryl; children, Michael Dood (Donna) and James "Jim" Dood (Kellie); grandchildren, Paige Stewart, Bryce Dood, Jax Dood, and Jamie Dood; and great-grandchildren, Bella, B. J., and Felicity. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Joseph Dood and Frances Jane Newman Dood and son, Robert Colin Dood, Jr..
The family will receive friends at the visitation on Thursday, June 30 from 4:30 until 6:30 PM, at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN. Committal services will be held on Friday, July 8 at 9:00 AM, at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Road, Memphis, TN.
