Roberta Ann Holmes (Bert) surrendered her life on this earth at the age of 86 on February 12, 2022. Born in 1935, she was a life-long Memphian, graduating from Memphis Technical High School in 1953. Bert lived a fulfilled life providing for & serving her family and church. She was a great example of what “doing unto others” should look like. She was a founding member of Range Hills Baptist Church where she served not only as a staff secretary but was also a faithful member for over 62 years.
She was preceded in death by: Her husband of 42 years: Bob M. Holmes; Her parents: John R. Medley, Mary A. Medley; 3 Sisters; Jean Lever, Oma J. Lever, Jo Alice Root.
She is survived by 3 sons: Kenneth D. Holmes (Susan) of Little Rock, AR, Russell A. Holmes (Sarah) of Signal Mountain, TN, John B. (Brad) Holmes (Tammy) of Drummonds, TN; 2 Granddaughters: Allison Holmes, Kelly Holmes; 3 Grandsons: Michael Holmes (Melanie), Nathan Holmes (Alyse), John Robert (J.R.) Holmes; 3 Great-Grandchildren: Bennett Holmes, Gabriel Holmes, Jack Holmes; 2 Sisters: Francis R. Long of Rockmart, GA, Nora A. Rodrigues (Nelson) of Albuquerque, NM; 1 Brother: John R. Medley (Linda) of Bartlett, TN, and a host of Nieces, nephews and cousins.
A gathering of friends and family for Mrs. Holmes will be held Monday, February 21, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave, Memphis, TN 38122. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Family Funeral Care. Interment will follow at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Road, Bartlett, Tennessee 38133.
