MEMPHIS/MILLINGTON – Ronald (Ronnie) Black Goldsby, (83) passed away on July 8th, 2020. Ronnie was born in Lucy, TN, on May 25th, 1937. He graduated from Millington Central High School in 1957. After working in the Cotton offices in downtown Memphis, he began working at Block Drug Company on President’s Island, which later became Glaxo Smith Kline. He retired after making lifetime friends while working in the traffic department.
Growing up in the Millington area, and then in Memphis, he returned to Millington in his latter years. Beginning his Christian life at Big Creek Baptist Church, then Bellevue Baptist Church, and as of late at Millington 1st United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney & Aggie Lee Hill Goldsby, Step-Mother Mary Matthews Goldsby, sisters Margaret Myracle, Stella Newlove, and Mildred Yaun, brothers Curt, Tommy, and baby Sidney, Jr. Goldsby.Cherishing his memory are many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends in Memphis, Millington, Lucy, California, and Michigan.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1 pm. until the funeral service begins at 2 pm. on Friday, July 17th, 2020 at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN. Interment will follow at Big Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 6797 Big Creek Church Road, near Millington, TN.
