Ronald Gene Hayes

Ronald Gene Hayes, 77, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away on June 13, 2026. Born June 30, 1948, in Jackson, Tennessee, Ronald will be remembered with deep respect and enduring gratitude by all who knew and loved him.

Ronnie was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Willard Hays and Mary Imogene Hays; his brother, Joe Michael Hays; and his beloved son, Jason Hayes.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Jean Hayes, who stood by his side through life’s many joys and challenges; his son, Nicholas Hanks; his dear sisters, Kay Hays and Dotty Mills from Orlando, Florida; his grandchildren, Jessica Hayes and Drew Allison Hanks; and his great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Lucy Hanks. In addition to his immediate family, Ronnie is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ronnie served his country in the U.S. Army and completed two tours in Vietnam. He loved cheering for Notre Dame football, the New York Yankees, the Boston Celtics, and the Washington Commanders, and he also enjoyed fishing , watching John Wayne films, and working out in his yard.

Ronnie will be deeply missed, and his memory will remain a lasting presence in the hearts of those who were fortunate to share in his life.

The family will receive friends at visitation on Thursday, June 18 from 1:00 PM until the funeral service at 2:00 PM, at Memphis Funeral Home , 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119. Interment with military honors will follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Collierville, TN.
