Ronald was married on January 1, 1997, and is survived by his wife of 29 years, Shirlene A. Stocking. He is also survived by his daughters, Tomika Stocking Johnson (Joshua Johnson) and Ventenese M. Palmer (Toney L. Palmer). He leaves a cherished legacy through his grandchildren: Tia C., Jada J., Joshua J., Josharaya J., Dalorian J., and Chrystal M., and his great-grandchildren: Aamir G, Charles T., Cartier T., Camari T.
Throughout his life, Ronald carried himself with steady purpose and quiet dignity, finding meaning in both hard work and the simple rituals that make a home. He was an owner and entrepreneur, and also worked as a car salesman—roles that reflected his determination, practical wisdom, and the pride he took in providing and building.
In his everyday life, Ronald found enjoyment in pursuits that spoke to his patience and attentiveness: couponing, yard work, and the satisfaction of bicycle and vacuum cleaning. He was a man of interests both spirited and thoughtful—watching wrestling and Westerns, reading newspapers, working crossword puzzles, and collecting. He also enjoyed poker and chess, pastimes that suited his steady focus and appreciation for strategy. Among the moments held closest were those spent with family, including taking his grandchildren to have pictures made with Santa—memories that will remain a tender part of his family’s story.
A personal note from his daughter, Tomika, reflects the lasting imprint of his love and guidance: “You inspire me to be a better person, to go after my dreams, and to walk with pride. From you, I have learned to appreciate and value who I am, what I have, and where I come from. And that will always make me feel blessed. From daughter, Tomika. I love you Dad.”
Ronald Garnett Stocking will be remembered with respect and gratitude, and his life will continue to be honored in the family he loved and the values he quietly lived each day.
