Ruth Conerly Meredith

Ramer, TN passed away on September 16, 2025.

Ruth was born in Clarksdale, MS, on August 18, 1926, the daughter of Winford Fite Conerly and Charles Albert Conerly, Sr. She lived and worked for many years in Memphis, TN. She was previously employed by Centralia Marine Insurance Company and as church secretary for First Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Holmes Road in Memphis, TN.

Ruth was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Hatley Burton, her sister, Ray Conerly Steele, her brother, Charles Albert Conerly, Jr., and her husband, Wilford E. Meredith.

She is survived by her grandson, Clinton David Morgan of Memphis, her great grandson, Clint Morgan of Memphis, her niece, Katherine Steele (Larry Darnell) of Olive Branch, MS, her nephews, Gibb Steele (Laurie)of Greenville, MS, and Charles Steele (Rebecca) of Mineral Bluff, GA, and her son-in-law, Daniel Burton of Ramer, TN. Ruth also leaves these special friends, Jane Hogan, Melanie Fuller, and Kevin Hogan of Memphis.

She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club of Whitehaven for many years where she served as president for two years. She was also a member of the Quota Club. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Selmer, TN.

Graveside services will be at Oakridge Cemetery in Clarksdale, MS at 1pm Saturday, September 20, under the direction of Family Funeral Care.
