

Ruthie Lee Dye Marshall, 94 of Memphis, Tennessee, widow of the late George Marshall, Jr. passed on January 23, 2022 at the home of her daughter. She was born on July 1, 1927 to the late William and Roxie Dye in Coahoma, Mississippi. She was the seventh of eight children born to this union. All siblings preceded her in death.
She was a long time resident of the Douglass Community and a member of the Tayner Street Block Club. She was a member of the historic St. Paul “Douglass’’ M.B. Church for over 70 years under the Leadership of the late Dr. J.E. Ferguson and Pastor Dr. Harry Davis.
She leaves two daughters, Maxine Marshall (William) Moore, Dr. Rita Marshall Williams, both of Memphis, Tennessee, one son, George R. (Eunice) Marshall of San Antonio, Texas, two children preceded her in death, Robert L. Dye, Sr. and Frank Marshall; daughter-in -law, Marion Claudette Dye; thirteen grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren, sixteen great-great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
A visitation for Ruthie will be held Friday, February 4, 2022 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at M.J. Edwards F.H. Stage Road Chapel, 4445 Stage Road, Memphis, Tennessee 38128. A celebration of life will occur Friday, February 4, 2022 at 12:30 PM, 4445 Stage Road, Memphis, Tennessee 38128. A burial will occur Friday, February 4, 2022 at 2:30 PM at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Road, Memphis, TN 38125.
