

Samuel Vinson Shaw, SR., of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, died on February 14, 2016 at the Methodist Hospice in Memphis, Tennessee. A purchasing agent in the petroleum industry, Mr. Shaw was a committed Christian and member of Aspen Park Baptist Church in Broken Arrow. He was self-taught musician able to play the organ, guitar and the Dobro steel guitar; stained glass artisan; craftsman, builder; and gardener of flowers and vegetables. Mr. Shaw was preceded in death last year by his wife of 65 years, Retta Patterson Shaw, and his great-granddaughter, Eloise Owen (Wheezy). He is survived by his daughter Susan (Jack) Pennington of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sons Sam (Ruthe) Shaw of Germantown, Tennessee and Ron (Linda) Shaw of Skiatook, Oklahoma; sister-in-law Virginia (Hack) Mabery of Anadarko, Oklahoma; brother-in-law Doyle (June) Patterson of Bridgeport, Texas; nine grandchildren Sarah Owen, Corrie Peak, Joey Shaw,, Charlie Shaw, Ron Shaw, Amber Vetter, Lindi Shaw, Matt Shaw and Ashlee Baker; and 22 great-grandchildren.
