OBITUARY

Sandra "Sandy" Jerden

January 25, 1950October 31, 2019

Sandra “Sandy” Jerden, 69, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, October 31, 2019, after an 8 ½ year battle with cancer. Sandy was born in Memphis, TN, on January 25, 1950, to the late Earl and Verniece Liming, and was a graduate of Kingsbury High School in Memphis. Sandy was a homemaker for many years and she was most happy when she was caring for her daughter and family. The family moved 11 times with her husband’s job and each time Sandy was tasked with handling the moving details, which she did admirably. With each move she quickly made numerous new friends. Sandy was a kind, gentle soul, and her warmth and compassion easily endeared her to others- Sandy truly never met a stranger. In 1985 she joined Edward Jones Financial, where she retired as a Senior Branch Office Administrator at the Ridgeland office after more than 27 years of faithful service. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, James L. “Jim” Jerden, Jr.; daughter, Christie Lewis and husband Jeff; and sister, Patricia Clemmer and husband Larry; as well as many dear friends.

I have admired Sandy since I was about 6 years old and saw she and Pat twirl the baton in an elementary school talent show. It was like a Broadway musical to me. I admired her for her talent and precision. As an adult, I admired her for her gentle, caring nature and beautiful soul. You will be missed, Sandy. Our prayers go out to Jim, Christie, Pat and the family.

Dear Jim and family,
I am so sorry to read of Sandra’s passing. We didn’t hear about it until late last night, when Ronnie Johnson thought to call us. I know she suffered for so long and you were by her side the whole way. She loved you so very much. It was so obvious to all of us at NAPA. I have so many memories of her, Dave Cockrell’s wife and Mrs. Barlow bringing us goodies and planning special days for the crew at the DC. Those were the good old days when NAPA was a real leader in the parts world on how to treat customer AND employees. We were a family and Sandra went out of her way to make sure we felt that way. Thank you for sharing her with us. Jim and I will lift you and your family up to the Lord in prayer, asking Him to wrap His loving arms around you and give you His peace during this hard time, knowing that she will be waiting to see you when it’s your time to join her. I love you both.

Sandy's love for the Lord, life, family, and friends came so naturally to her. She was a joy to know and always had a word of encouragement to share. I met her through Edward Jones where her kind and gentle spirit made me feel like family.
Rejoicing in the promises of God that one day we will all be together in our Heavenly Home. Until then may the Lord continue to comfort and heal our broken hearts.

Mama J, May you find peace and rest. Sandy Is my sister-in-laws mother. I couldn’t have asked for a sweeter family to be connected to. Best home cooking at mama J’s. Biscuits always fluffy and pie always sweet. I’m glad you are out of pain, but I will be missing you deeply. And the world has one less “ Sandy”. 😞

I met Mrs.Sandra and Mr.Jim while my twin sister Faye was doing a Chemo treatment and they both seemed so kind. Faye and Mrs.Sandra shared a bond of true friends who was dealing with the hand they was dealt with. Mr.Jim, you and your family will be in my prayers....
