Seymour Heller, 83 of Germantown passed away April 14, 2014 at the Methodist Hospice in Memphis, TN; he was born in Brooklyn, NY on May 22, 1930 to Harry and Zelda Heller. He served his country in the Army, the Army Air Corps and retiring from the US Air Force. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart from action in the Korean War. After his retirement from the military he worked for Holiday Inns as a corporate trainer. He also worked for Wilson World and consulted with many other hotel and motel corporations. He was a member of the First Evangelical Church of Memphis. He also belonged to several civic organizations and was politically active until the time of his passing.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister Flora Feldman; three brothers Henry Heller, Bill Heller and Morton Heller.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lillie J. Heller of Germantown, TN; daughter Suzanne Carpenter and son-in-law Ron Carpenter of Germantown, TN; two grandsons Ronald (Jessica) Carpenter of Cordova, TN and Samuel Carpenter of Germantown, TN; he also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom he loved and who loved him.
The family will receive friends on Friday April 18, 2014 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel. A memorial service will be held Saturday April 19, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel. An inurnment will held at a future date at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the Wounded Warriors Organization or Methodist Hospice facility of Memphis.
