Sheila Denise Stokes

Shelia confessed her hope in Christ at an early age & united with Promise Land Ministries under the leadership of Dr. Eugene Whiting and Pastor Caleb Whiting. Shelia remained a faithful member and servant of Promise Land Ministries.

Shelia graduated from Coffeeville High School in the Class of 1989. She later attended Northwest Community College in Oxford, MS and Delta Technical College in Southaven, MS.

Throughout her life she was employed as a manager at the Burger King, Hollywood Casino Tunica, and most recent as a bus driver for DeSoto County Schools.

Shelia was a woman whose love and kindness touched countless lives. She never met a stranger and had a heart that welcomed everyone with compassion and generosity. Always willing to lend a helping hand, Shelia would give whatever she could to anyone in need, often putting others before herself. Her family, friends, and community knew they could depend on her, as she was dedicated, dependable, and committed to seeing things through. Whether offering words of encouragement, sharing what she had, or simply being present, Shelia made everyone around her feel loved and valued. Her selfless spirit, unwavering faith, and caring heart will forever be remembered by all who were blessed to know her. Shelia has been a mother, grandmother and a friend to many.

Shelia is proceeded in death by her mother, Gailey Stokes Neal; father, William Ware; step father John Neal, maternal grandmother; Anna Walker Stokes, paternal grandmother Lourene Turner Bobo, her sister Holly Blackman, and her nephew James Neal.

Visitation will be held at M. J. Edwards Whitehaven Funeral Chapel, 5494 Elvis Presley Blvd, Memphis, TN 38116, US, on August 7, 2026, at 4:00 pm. Visitation will also be held at Mt. Moriah Baptist Association Building, 3657 CR 211, Coffeeville, MS 38922, US, on August 8, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will take place at Mt. Moriah Baptist Association Building, 3657 CR 211, Coffeeville, MS 38922, US, on August 8, 2026, at 1:00 pm, followed by a Committal Service at Guest Cemetery in Oakland, MS 38948, US, on August 8, 2026.
