Terry Gene McGan, passed away on August 22, 2024, at the age of 67. Born on June 12, 1957, he was a lifelong resident of Memphis, Tennessee. He attended Memphis Tech High School, where he met the love of his life, Pam Dunlap. They married on July 2, 1977, and shared 47 beautiful years by one another’s side. He was a devoted husband and father, and together, Terry and Pam raised their beloved son, Jonathan. Terry was a dedicated machinist at Cummins, where he worked tirelessly for 44 years.
Terry had a kind of honesty and integrity that many people don’t often encounter. He would encouragingly say, “Do the right thing,” in hopes that others would make good choices. He led by example and was always kind, caring, thoughtful, hard-working, and, yes, “doing the right thing.” Terry had an unwavering commitment for his family and a deep sense of patriotism for his country. He loved Pam and the kids, everything American (including bald eagles and the American flag), all of his border collies, the Cowboys, University of Memphis football and basketball, country western movies, and classic rock and R&B music. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Rose McGan; two brothers, Steve McGan and Sam McGan; and one sister, Nancy Robbins. He is survived by his wife, Pam McGan; his son, Jonathan McGan; one sister, Judy Taylor; two nieces, Carey Acerra (TJ Horne) and Anna Acerra; three nephews, Shawn McGan, Ricky McGan, and David Taylor; and grandnieces and grandnephews, including Luke Hanna, Kate Horne, and Alex Horne, who will especially miss their ‘Uncle T.’
The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 am immediately followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, all to be held at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119.
