Thomas Kiley Finch

Thomas Kiley Finch passed away on September 4, 2013. He was born in Jackson, Mississippi on December 11, 1921. He was a Christian and faithful member of the Methodist church. He met his wife of 70 years, Mary Maxine Newell, and married her on September 12, 1942. They were both avid golfers and their golf bags traveled with them wherever they went, stopping to play at any course anywhere if they happened to catch a glimpse of a tee or fairway on their travels. Thomas was a proud U.S. Army veteran of WWII serving from 1942 until December 1945 when he was mustered out of service at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri. He served in North Africa, Italy and on into Germany before returning home. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in the war. He started his 37-year career with International Paper in January 1946 and retired in 1983 from the Springhill Wood Products Plant in 1983. Thomas and Maxine had two sons, John David, born on December 17, 1947, and Darryl Gene, born on April 26, 1954. They had one grandson, John David, Jr., and two granddaughters, Julia Finch and Emily Williams, (Mike). He had one step-grandson, Paul Walker, and one step-granddaughter, Allison Romero (Coby). Thomas follows to the Lord his wife, Mary Maxine, his parents, David and Ruth Finch, his brothers J.W., Robert and Clyde, his sister Catherine, his son, John David, his grandson, John David, Jr., and his step-grandson, Paul Walker. He is survived by his son Darryl (Linda), his sisters Clara Munn and Cecilia Finch, and his brother Kenneth, his granddaughters, Julia Finch and Emily Williams, and six great-grandchildren, Samantha and Annie Williams, Courtney and Abigail Broussard, and Cameryn and Adrian Romero. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 7, 2013 from 9:30 until service time at 10:00 a.m. at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee. Burial will follow in Marked Tree Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to the veterans organization of your choice.
