Thomas Milton Miller, 97, of Millington, Tennessee passed away on October 15, 2022. He was born in Union County, Mississippi on August 28, 1925, the eldest son of Alton and Junie Miller. He is survived by his three children, Michael, Cheryl, and Angela; a son-in-law, Ray; four granddaughters, Patricia, Carolyn, Heather, and Savannah; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Vernon and Ray. He is predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Louise. He served in the Merchant Marine during World War II and in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After the Korean War ended, he returned home and married the love of his life. He then re-enlisted in the Navy and after a distinguished career, retired as Master Chief Ordnance man in 1976. After retirement, Thomas and Louise built their dream home and spent the next forty-plus years traveling, and spending time with their many friends and family, especially their grandchildren. Thomas loved his many pets, and they were a source of great comfort and enjoyment over the years. He was the best Daddy and Granddaddy in the world. A visitation for Thomas will be held Tuesday, October 25, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave, Memphis, TN 38122. A visitation will occur Wednesday, October 26, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 4925 Summer Ave, Memphis, TN 38122. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, October 26, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 4925 Summer Ave, Memphis, TN 38122. A committal service will occur Wednesday, October 26, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 1:20 PM at West Tennessee State Veteran Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene, Memphis, TN 38125.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for any donations to go to The National WWII Museum in New Orleans.
