After many years of living in Savannah, Tennessee, she moved to and resided in Oakland, Tennessee.
Babaw retired from Universal Manufacturing, where she served faithfully for many years as a secretary.
She was deeply involved with her church, Mount Hermon Baptist Church in Savannah, Tennessee—devoted to Bible study, lifting her voice in the choir, and offering steady service to those around her. Known for her chicken and dressing and regarded as a wonderful cook, she lovingly prepared meals for her church each Wednesday, giving of herself in the practical, generous ways that so often speak loudest.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Pattie Brown “Pabs,” and by Floyd Jr. and Mark Laster.
Babaw leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Floyd Laster “Pops”; her daughter, Lisa Barbieri (Edward “Squeaker”); and Bubba Glover (Stephanie). She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Trey Barbieri (Reina), Whitney Woods (Cody), Kelsey Laster, and Kristen Robinson (Zane), Ian and Aaron; and her six great-grandchildren: Deacon, Dominic, Maren, Ridge, Roan, and Charlie.
To her family, Babaw was a wonderful mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother whose care was felt in everyday moments and lasting traditions—especially in the memory books she enjoyed making for her great-grandchildren, gifts of love meant to be held and remembered. Babaw was precious to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed and long remembered.
