

Troy Norwood, 46, died suddenly of natural causes at his home in Memphis on Friday, December 30, 2016. Troy was born January 30, 1970, the first son of James (Stan) Norwood and Bonnie Norwood. He was the beloved husband of Kristin Layman Norwood. Troy was a restaurant manager for most of his career. Some of the restaurants that he had managed were Silky O’Sullivan’s, Stone Soup and currently Memphis Barbecue Company in Horn Lake, MS. Troy graduated from White Station High School where he was Mr. White Station and played soccer receiving the Best of Preps trophy for soccer both his Junior and Senior years. Troy played varsity soccer at both University of Memphis and CBU graduating from CBU with a business major. In his high school and college years’ soccer was Troy’s passion. As best expressed by Troy’s Aunt Kim “Troy was one of the kindest, sweetest, loving and generous souls I have ever known. He never met a stranger and his smile could lighten up a room.” His smile and laugh will be remembered by all who knew and loved him. Troy lived life to its fullest and was exuberant in all of his life celebrations (even the small ones). He was an avid music fan (Prince being his favorite) with him and Kristin attending local concerts whenever possible. Troy leaves behind his wife and soul mate, Kristin Layman Norwood, his parents, Stan and Bonnie Norwood all of Memphis, his brother, Curtis (Sharon) Norwood, niece, Maddie Norwood and nephew, Ellion Norwood of Arlington, TX. He also leaves aunts, Lynda Sowell and Kimberly Norwood Robinson and cousin, Debbie Sowell McHaney. Extended family includes Sue (Steve) Lightman, Bill Layman and Micah (Ruthie) Layman. He also leaves numerous soccer and restaurant friends. The family will receive guests on Tuesday, January 3rd at Kingsway Christian Church, 7887 Poplar Ave., Germantown, TN from 2 pm until the Memorial Service begins at 3 pm.
