Valerie Boyette Huddleston

VALERIE B. HUDDLESTON, 91, entered into eternal rest on April 20, 2013, surrounded by her family. Born September 15, 1921, she was the oldest of ten children to Dora J. and A.M. Boyette, Sr. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, H. Lamar Huddleston in 2009. Valerie leaves two sons, Larry L. Huddleston, and was preceded in death by his wife, Sheree of Cedar Hill, Texas, Bill W. Huddleston and his wife, Linda of Arlington, Texas. She also leaves one daughter, Debbie H. Bailey and her husband, Kirk of Germantown. She felt so blessed to have four fine grandsons, Blake Huddleston (Kim) of Southlake, Texas, Brent Huddleston (Susan), Brian Bailey, all of Dallas, Texas, and Brice Bailey (Stephanie) of Memphis. Valerie was always anxious to talk about her precious great-grandchildren, Mason, Abby, Lyla, and Nathan. She also leaves four sisters and a brother, Natalie Grisham, Margaret Duncan, Shirley Conely, Patricia Hamilton, and Bob Boyette. She was preceded in death by sisters, Penny Storrs, Heidi Curry and brothers, A.M. Boyette, Jr. and James Boyette. Valerie was a member of the Ruth Class at Germantown Baptist Church and she and Lamar enjoyed being a part of the Merrymakers. Her family and her church family were her life. We will miss her chocolate pie, her carrot cake, and the twinkle in her eye. She left this world being hugged and kissed and entered Heaven to be greeted by many more. As the old gospel song says, “And we’ll understand it better bye and bye.”. Visitation for Valerie will be on Wednesday, April 24 from 10-11 a.m. at Memphis Funeral Home. There will be a private family committal service at Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Germantown Baptist Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
