Tishomingo County, MS July 18, 1932. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thelma and
Olen Henry, and three brothers, Billy Harold, Mathis and Lee. She is survived by her husband of
62 years, Lyle B. Hendrix, two children, Terri (Jim) Hambrick and Stan (Tracy) Hendrix, four
grandchildren, Michael (Leslie) Hambrick, Andrew (Kayla) Hendrix, Lindsey (Matthew) Wilson,
Rachel (Nick) Dressman, two great grandchildren, Jimbo and Charlie Hambrick and two
siblings, Geraldine West and Claude Henry.
Oconee graduated high school from Mars Hill Bible School, Florence, AL, where she was voted
most athletic. She also attended Freed-Hardeman College in Henderson, TN.
Lovingly called Mamaw by her family, she was known to all for her 40 plus years of teaching
second grade Bible class at White Station Church of Christ, her many years of involvement in
Global Missions, her work in the Clothes Closet, and her talents on the tennis court.
The Hendrix family wishes to acknowledge and thank the staff of Ave Maria long term care
facility and Crossroads Hospice for the wonderful care given to her at the end of her journey.
The family will receive family and friends Monday, October 15, 2018 from 11:00 AM
till time of service at 12:00 PM at White Station Church of Christ, 1106 Colonial Road,
Memphis, TN 38117.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Children’s Ministry or the
Global Missions Ministry at White Station Church of Christ, or Village of Hope at VOH Support
fund, PO Box 670394, Dallas, TX 75367.
