Verna Marie Hooten Irvin, 77, passed away March 16, 2011 at Methodist Hospital in Germantown. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until the Rosary begins at 7 p.m. Friday, March 18 and the funeral service 10 a.m. Saturday, March 19 all at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, Poplar Avenue. Burial will follow at Memphis Memory Gardens. She was born March 31, 1933 in Obion Co., TN. Mrs. Irvin, the widow of Lt. Col. Robert E.D. Irvin, was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Bartlett and retired after 25 years from Blue Cross Blue Shield in Memphis. She was also a Rainbow Girl. Her survivors include son Robert Lee Muns, Jr. (Kathy), daughter Jeannine Daugherty (Michael), brothers Ron and Ted Hooten, step son Dan Irvin (Linda), step daughters Sue Irvin and Cathy Taylor, three grandchildren, one great grandchild, two step grandchildren, and one step great grandchild
