

VICKIE SANDERS STANFORD. April 28, 1957 - January 2, 2010. God is love and love never fails. If ever there was a shining example of this truth of God’s word, it was Vickie Sanders Stanford. Vickie embodied this love and strength in all her actions. After a life of service to God, she was called home on January 2, 2010 and is now in the hands of God forever. A graduate of Methodist School of Nursing, Vickie worked as a Registered Nurse and Office Manager in her husband’s dental practice throughout their 31 years of marriage. She was an active member of Hope Presbyterian Church -- serving as Deacon, Educator, and Greeter -- spreading the word of the Lord and His great love. Serving as past President, she was a strong contributor to the Memphis Dental Alliance. Her involvement in the International Brotherhood of Magicians earned her the prestigious Order of Merlin and she served as her husband’s magic assistant for over 25 years. Vickie was very gifted as a writer, artist, and musician. She is survived by her loving husband, Jon Carl Stanford, with whom she was inseparable. They have four beautiful and talented children: Jon Michael, 26; Casey Michelle, 25; Holly Jean, 19; and Ginny Leigh, 18; whom she loved dearly. She was the daughter of Jim and Rachel Sanders, and theh sister of Steve Sanders. Vickie also leaves behind many supporting and loving relatives and friends. Her strength, compassion, and unconditional love live throughout everyone she has ever touched. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 from 5-8 p.m. at the Memphis Funeral Home, located at 5599 Poplar Avenue.
