Born on February 3, 1928, in Dancy, Mississippi, she was the daughter of Percy and Viola (Ola) Walker. On April 10, 1949, she married the love of her life, Malcolm Strauss, who preceded her in death. Together they built a life filled with devotion, hard work, and quiet strength.
Violette was a loving mother to Dana Strauss, Stanley Strauss, and Gregory Strauss (deceased). She took great pride and joy in her grandchildren: Ian Strauss, Hillary Strauss, Lucia Strauss, and Sophie Strauss.
A woman of deep faith, resilience, and kindness, Violette found joy in writing poems and reading books. She will be remembered for the warmth she brought to her family and the steadfast love she gave throughout her long life.
She is survived by her children Dana and Stanley, her grandchildren Ian, Hillary, Lucia, and Sophie, and all who were blessed to know her.
A formal service will be held at Family Funeral Care on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 2:00 p.m with visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Bartlett.
