Virginia Tate

Virginia Mae Tate, age 79 of Memphis, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2013. She was born July 1, 1934 in Memphis to the late Frank Newton Jones, and Mary Ruby May Jones. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Tate; one daughter, Sandra Yvonne; one son, Frankie Kim; daughter-in-law, Denise Lynn Tate; granddaughter Elizabeth Lynn Tate. Survivors include one daughter, Ann Marie May of Aiken, South Carolina; four sons, Gerrald Lynn (Barbara Lynn), Len David, Roger Lee, and Jody Blair Tate (Julia), all of Memphis; 11 grandchildren; 12 Great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; mother-in-law, Ruth Ann Tate of Daytona Beach, Florida. Active pallbearers will be Rodney Thigpen, Brandon Thigpen, Julian Thigpen, Jonathan Tate, Joshua Tate, and Christopher Tate. Honorary pallbearers will be J.W. Moran and Coley Thigpen. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Tuesday, August 27 at Family Funeral Care located on Summer Avenue. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 12 PM till service time. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
