

Beloved mother, grandmother, and soon to be great grandmother. Forever in Our Hearts, was called home to be with the Lord and Savior on Monday, July 28, 2025 in Southaven, Mississippi. A visitation will be held Friday, August 8, 2025 at Family Funeral Care in Memphis, Tennessee from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM with service at 2:00 PM followed by entombment at Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis, Tennessee at 3:15 PM.
Born July 11, 1931 in Kenton, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Sullivan Sharp and Gertha (Sims) Sharp. Married to James S. Welch. While growing up, her and her siblings had to work in cotton fields. She enjoyed spending time with her family; and loved spending time with her nieces that would take or meet her for lunch. Wanda loved going to get her hair done every week; working in her garden and watching her hummingbirds. In her younger years, she enjoyed cooking and loved her buttermilk and fried green tomatoes. She worked in retail after her youngest graduated from high school. Wanda had a life of love for God and her family; she was a long-time member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Memphis, Tennessee before moving to Mississippi and attended Christ the King Catholic Church in Southaven, Mississippi.
Wanda is survived by her children, Ronnie James Welch (Gaynell) of Southaven, Mississippi, Steve Allen Welch (Laurie) of Olive Branch, Mississippi; Carolyn Welch Howell (Joe) of Nesbit, Mississippi; grandchildren, Tracy Freeman (Matt) of Bartlett, Tennessee, Justin Welch (Udy) of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, Brandon Howell of Owens Crossroads, Alabama, Austin Welch of Southaven, Mississippi, Brian Howell (Alexa) of Nesbit, Mississippi, Lyndsey Welch of Southaven, Mississippi and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Sullivan Sharp and Gertha (Sims) Sharp; husband, James Samuel Welch; daughter, Dianne Marie Welch.
