William Hamilton "Nook" Poag, Jr., 88, of Memphis, died January 7, 2014 at his home. He retired from Unocal Oil where he was an outstanding salesman and won many awards. He was a member of White Station Church of Christ and Windyke Country Club and a WWII Army veteran. Mr. Poag was an avid sports fan. He had coached and refereed youth basketball and baseball, but he particularly loved golf and football. He also loved the University of Mississippi. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn Smith Poag; his daughter, Betsy Poag Biggs (Scott) of Memphis and two grandchildren, Bradley and Bryan Biggs; and a sister-in-law, Marie Walker Poag of Memphis. He was preceded in death by his son, Bob Poag. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 11, with the service at 11 a.m. all at White Station Church of Christ. Burial will be in Memphis Memory Gardens. Memorials may be sent to the charity of the donor's choice.
