September 30, 1926 – January 24, 2018
William Henry Wardle (Bill), 91, passed away at Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital January 24, 2018. He was born in Memphis, TN, graduated from Central High School in 1944, and toward the end of World War II served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. In 1948 he graduated from Wheaton College, married Elaine Alderson, and moved back to Memphis. After numerous years in real estate management, he transitioned to sales at Piper Industries and then managed his own sales agency (Wardle & Associates) for 21 years. He enjoyed playing golf and duck hunting with his friends and found the time spent with them more meaningful than the activities themselves. Joining First Evangelical Church as a teenager, he was involved in varied facets of ministry: adult and high school Sunday School teacher, Deacon, Elder, Building Committees, and Pastor Search Committees. He is preceded in death by his wife (Elaine) of 68 years and survived by his children Janet Wilaine Wardle of Germantown, TN, William Henry Wardle, Jr. (Peg) of Trussville, AL, and Christine Wardle Taylor (Tim) of Memphis TN; grandchildren Nikki Wardle Symasek (Mike), William Jason Wardle (Amanda), and Michael Scott Wardle (Jessica); twelve great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday February 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at First Evangelical Church with the memorial service to follow at noon at First Evangelical Church.
The family requests memorials be made to Biblical Theological Seminary of Poland, First Evangelical Church, or Mafraq Sanatorium Association.
