Wilma Roberts Gibbs, of Collierville, born December 26, 1938, went to be with her Lord and Savior, July 24, 2011. She was born and raised in Union City, TN. She married Doug Gibbs in 1956 and later was Secretary to the Dean of Women at UT Knoxville and later was on the staff of Congressman Robert A. Everett in Washington, DC. After starting a family she became interested in gardening and raising animals. She was Vice President of Camp Electric and a member of First Baptist Church in Collierville since 1977 and a member of Wayne Rodgers Sunday School class. Mrs. Gibbs is survived by her husband, Doug Gibbs; daughter, Julia Gibbs Sellers, a teacher at Schilling Farms and her husband, Steve; son, Grant Stephen Gibbs, owner of Chik-Fil-A in Collierville and his wife, Melissa; sister, Sue Stoll of Union City, TN ; brother, Roy Roberts of Jacksonville, FL; and grandchildren, Joshua Gibbs Sellers, William Blair Sellers, Christian Rebecca Gibbs, Jake Robert Gibbs and Faith Charlotte Gibbs. She was preceded in death by her son, William D. Gibbs, Jr., who was one of the early patients at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital . The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 27, at 11 a.m. with the service to follow at 1 p.m., all at First Baptist Church in Collierville. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
