On Friday, July 17, 2020, Zoe Pappas Nickas (88), passed away at the Ave Maria Home. Born on May 3, 1932 to the late Pete and Koula Pappas, Zoe was the oldest of five daughters. Being the eldest child gave rise to her independent nature and personality. Zoe enjoyed spending time with her many cousins, family, and friends in Memphis. She married George Chris Nickas in Memphis on December 10, 1950, and they were faithful members of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. George preceded her in death on December 22, 2015.
Zoe was a division manager at Sears Crosstown for many years. A classic Greek beauty who never lost touch with her native land's culture and traditions, she passed that heritage on to her two children, Emily (Bill) Ferguson and Chris (Ellen) Nickas, and their families who survive her including six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren: Lauren (Myles) Beaupre, Adam (Allison) Nickas, Ashley Nickas, Kristin (Brad) Phillips, Courtney (Matt) Feinstein, and Trip (Lyndsay) Ferguson. Zoe also leaves behind four wonderful sisters who loved her deeply and were devoted to her care: Connie Cotros, Cecile Tashie, Georgia Cosmas, and Helen Ballas.
A funeral service for Zoe will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at 10:00AM, Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 573 N Highland St., Memphis, TN 38122.
