Bernice M. Smith

Bernice M. Smith, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah. She was born on February 12, 1921 in Peck, Wisconsin, daughter of the Rasmus “John” and Theresa (Hoffman) Rasmussen. On September 11, 1943, Bernice was united in marriage to Donald Smith; he preceded her in death. Bernice was devoted to her church and helped out with making quilts for fundraisers at St. Mary Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling across the country with her husband in their motorhome. Above all she loved spending time with her family.

Bernice will be survived by her loving children: Douglas (Wanda) Smith, Ohio, Guy (Gretchen) Smith, Appleton, Scott Smith, Menasha; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister Theresa Miller; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 10, 2011, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 528 Second Street, Menasha, with Fr. Paul Paider officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the hour of the Mass at the church. Interment will take place in St. Mary Cemetery, Town of Menasha. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
