

Clarence “Red” W. Godhardt, age 92, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2011, at Bella Vista in Oshkosh. On February 19, 1919 in Menasha, WI, Red was born the youngest of ten children to the late Julius and Cora (Calvert) Godhardt. He graduated from high school and went on to the military. Red served his country in the United States Army from 1942 to 1946. While in the Army he was united in marriage to Maurelia Fahrenkrug on June 10, 1943; she preceded him in death on June 28, 2000. Red loved basketball and played on the Army team when he was in the service. Red was employed as a weaver at Appleton Wire Works in Menasha for 45 years. He also enjoyed playing Bingo and often won. Red was past president of the Lake Bonnett Village Co-op in Avon Park, Florida.
Red will be missed by his loving children: Sandy (Don) Marohl, Williamsburg, VA; Tom (Karen) Godhardt, Ashburn, VA; Dan (Crystal) Godhardt, Hinckley, IL; Gary (Sue) Godhardt, Menasha, WI; Judie (CH (LTC) Mark) Thompson, Martinez, GA; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by 4 brothers and 5 sisters.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday, November 16, 2011, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 528 Second Street, Menasha, with Fr. Paul Paider officiating. A Memorial Gathering will be held from 11:00 am until the hour of the Mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
