Bobby Don Lay

Bobby Don Lay Sr., beloved veteran, husband, father, papa and friend passed away on July 19, 2024 at the age of 78. Born on May 24, 1946 in Tom Greene County San Angelo, TX to James Houston Lay and Doris Louise Easterwood Lay, Bobby or “Donny” as he was known amongst his relatives was one of four children. He was a student at Lakeview High School and Eden High School. In 1963, Bob enlisted in the United States Navy and began his career in the crash and salvage division. He later transferred positions to an avionics electrician and retired after dedicating over twenty years of service to his country and achieving the rank of United States Navy Petty Officer 1st class.

Bob is preceded in death by his daughter, Jenaeve Lay Valdez, his parents, James and Doris, his sister, Virginia Brock and her husband, Jessie Brock. He is survived by his wife, Toni; his son Bobby Lay and wife Reyna of Houston, TX; his son Tommy Lay and wife Eileen of San Diego, CA; his step-daughter Barbara Bellavance of Lakeside,CA; his grand-daughter whom he raised as his own, Giavanna Valdez of San Diego,CA; his older twin brother by 20 minutes Billy John Lay of San Angelo, TX and his eldest brother, James “Jim” Douglas Lay of San Angelo, TX. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren: Zavier Valdez of San Diego, CA, Kent Lay of Houston, TX, Giavanna Valdez of San Diego, CA, Donovan Lay of San Diego, CA, Noah Lay of San Angelo, TX, Antonio James “AJ” and his wife Jannine of Long Beach, CA, Shae Marie Bellavance of San Diego, CA, Kyla Lay of San Diego, CA, Caleb Lay of Houston, TX, Avery Lay of San Diego, CA, Jayden Lay of Houston, TX and Miriam Lay of Houston, TX. Additionally he is survived by 1 great grand-daughter Karissa and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
