

Charles “Chuck” Mason de Chambeau was born in Santa Monica, California on September 13, 1959. He was the youngest of 3 children born to Thomas Rex and Natalie Lorrine (Norris) de Chambeau. His surviving sibling is sister Claudia Lewis.
He grew up in Rolling Hills Estates, CA. After high school he worked primarily as a machinist and welder before deciding to go to college. He received an Associate’s degree in Mathematics before transferring to Cal State University, Long Beach (CSULB) where he earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Civil Engineering. In 1992, he met his future wife, Deborah “Debbie” Daum, a fellow civil engineering student at CSULB. They were married at the Japanese Garden on CSULB campus and have been married for 28 years. They built a foundation of trust, respect, love and commitment with each other. They purchased a condo in Orange and closed escrow just before the wedding. After graduation, Chuck worked at a few civil/structural engineering firms before working as a Plans Examiner for Los Angeles County Building and Safety. In 1999, they moved to a house in La Mirada, CA. They welcomed 2 sons, Nathan Thomas and Evan Charles de Chambeau while living in La Mirada. In 2004, the family moved to their current residence in Murrieta. He changed positions to work for Riverside County until his retirement in 2019.
His biggest joy was his family and being a father. He volunteered as a soccer coach, cub scout leader and assistant Boy Scout leader. He loved traveling, going on hikes and bike rides with his family. He was fortunate to be able to visit 9 countries and 32 states with his wife. He was always ready for a family game night to play a board or card game.
Chuck’s hobbies included golf and playing guitar. He starting playing golf at the age of 8 and was a scratch handicap for years and won longest drive in several tournaments. Although he played guitar since a young age, he really improved and enjoyed playing open mic nights after retiring. Chuck touched many lives and will be forever and fondly remembered for his sense of humor and being a good man. He was recently baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
In March 2024, Chuck was diagnosed with Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma cancer. He passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 from complications of the cancer.
