Dorothy Jean Metcalf, lovingly known as “Gigi,” “Grammy,” and “Mom,” was welcomed into the Lord’s loving arms on August 31, 2026, at the age of 93. She was born on January 26, 1933, in Warwood, West Virginia.
During the final days of Dorothy’s life, she was surrounded by her loving children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and caregivers who loved and cherished her dearly. She was deeply loved by her family and friends, and she always put her family first, above all else.
Dorothy was married to her beloved husband, George “Woody,” and they were truly soulmates. They shared 70 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they enjoyed traveling, Mexican trains, water aerobics, square dancing, time at the senior center, and, most importantly, being surrounded by their family and friends.
Dorothy was a full-time homemaker and, after her children were grown, she worked in the banking industry for more than 20 years. Dorothy and Woody were longtime parishioners of St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church for more than 20 years.
Dorothy is survived by her brother, Ron Hlebiczki of West Virginia; her three children, Leslie and son-in-law Peter, Lisa and son-in-law Mark, and George and daughter-in-law Kristi; seven grandchildren, Nick, Jenny, Courtney, Stephanie, Zack, McKenna, and Kylie; and nine great-grandchildren, Cassidy, Bradley, Bennett, Cali, Everett, Emmett, Liam, Charlie, and Daxton.
Her love, kindness, and devotion to her family will remain in our hearts forever. Her memory will live on through the many lives she touched and, most of all, through the family she loved so deeply.
Rest in Peace, Mom, Grammy, and Gigi.
We love you and will miss you!
