Sad to announce the passing of Frederick (Freddy) Dewitt Van Allen Jr. in Alta Loma, California at the age of 91. Also known as "Dutch" he was born in Rochester, New York to Frederick and Catherine Van Allen and survived by his wife Shirley of 71 years. They had eight children, twins Chuck and Fred, Timmy (deceased), Daniel, Sharon, Laurie, Christine and Ted, plus many grandchildren and great grandchildren. They moved their growing family to California in 1963 for the opportunities California presented. Fred was a self-employed backhoe operator and spent the majority of his working years in the oil fields of Southern California and in construction in Orange County California. Upon early retirement he and his wife traveled up and down the west coast visiting family and friends and enjoying the beaches and mountains. He loved cars, dirt bikes and country music. He will be greatly missed. Services will be private.
