A religious ceremony will take place at St. James Parish, situated at 269 W 3rd St, Perris, CA 92570, on March 3, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

The committal service will follow at Miller-Jones Menifee Memorial Park and Mortuary on March 3, 2026, from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm.

Gustavo Mendez Santiago, born January 6, 1971 in Oaxaca, Mexico and passed away on February 13, 2026 at the age of 55. Gustavo resided in the city of Perris, CA.

With profound sorrow and deep gratitude for the life he shared with us, we announce the passing of a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and extraordinary man whose humility, work ethic, and grateful heart defined his life.

He was a hardworking and humble man who deeply appreciated every opportunity this country gave him—a place he proudly came to call home. His greatest pride and most cherished accomplishments were his family, the company he built, General Mastix Construction, with whom he called his friends and the building of his house from the ground up. As a husband, he was present, funny and devoted. As a father, he was unconditional in his love and unwavering in his support to all this children.

In his youth, he found joy in basketball, providing for his parents and siblings and telling jokes, where his energy, discipline, and determined spirit were evident—qualities that remained with him throughout his life. Those same traits shaped the way he provided for and guided the family he and his wife created, leading by quiet example through sacrifice, perseverance, and love.

He was a constant presence in his children’s lives, faithfully attending soccer practices, taking them trick or treating, celebrating their victories, and standing beside them through every challenge. His love was shown not through grand gestures, but through daily acts of care, patience, and positive motivation.

He was a warm and devoted grandfather who filled his grandson’s life with love, laughter, and steady guidance. With endless patience, he shared his passion for the outdoors and taught him the value of tending to his animals and the land. His compassionate heart will forever define the legacy he leaves behind and the gentle spirit he carried as a devoted grandfather.

He will be lovingly remembered for his endearing habits, including carrying whole walnuts in his pocket and cracking them open with a warm smile, telling jokes and reminding others of their own strengths and qualities. These simple traditions now live on as treasured memories.

He shared a special bond with his wife, who delighted in seeing him wear turquoise—a color that seemed to mirror the warmth, nobility, and serenity of his spirit. Each year, he joyfully celebrated the Rosca de Reyes, a tradition made even more meaningful as it coincided with his birthday—a day he filled with gratitude, laughter, and togetherness with his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Yolanda Mendez; his children, Zuleyma Mendez, Allen Mendez, Gabriela Mendez; and his cherished grandson, Elian Mendez.

Though his absence leaves a void that can never be filled, his love, strength, and example will continue to guide and inspire all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished and the values he instilled.

He will forever be remembered as a light in our lives, a steady embrace in times of need, and an enduring source of inspiration.

Esas mismas virtudes moldearon la manera en que sostuvo y guió a la familia que formó junto a su esposa, liderando con el ejemplo silencioso del sacrificio, la perseverancia y el amor.

Fue una presencia constante en la vida de sus hijos, asistiendo fielmente a sus prácticas de fútbol, llevándolos a pedir dulces en Halloween, celebrando sus triunfos y estando a su lado en cada desafío. Su amor no se expresaba con grandes gestos, sino con actos diarios de cuidado, paciencia y motivación positiva.

Fue un abuelo cariñoso y dedicado que llenó la vida de su nieto con amor, risas y guía constante. Con infinita paciencia, compartió su pasión por la naturaleza y le enseñó el valor de cuidar a sus animales y la tierra. Su corazón compasivo definirá para siempre el legado que deja y el espíritu noble que llevó como abuelo devoto.

Será recordado con cariño por sus entrañables costumbres, como llevar nueces enteras en el bolsillo y partirlas con una cálida sonrisa, contar chistes y recordarles a los demás sus propias fortalezas y cualidades. Estas sencillas tradiciones ahora viven como recuerdos atesorados.

Compartió un vínculo especial con su esposa, quien se alegraba al verlo vestir color turquesa—un color que parecía reflejar la calidez, nobleza y serenidad de su espíritu. Cada año celebraba con alegría la Rosca de Reyes, una tradición aún más significativa al coincidir con su cumpleaños—un día que llenaba de gratitud, risas y unión familiar.

Le sobreviven su amada esposa, Yolanda Mendez; sus hijos, Zuleyma Mendez, Allen Mendez y Gabriela Mendez; y su querido nieto, Elian Mendez.
