Lynda Nell Owen (Kelly) daughter of Winford and Pearl Kelly was born on July 12, 1941 in Baird Texas. She departed this life Monday, June 1, 2026 at her home in Perris, CA. She was united in marriage July 19. 1958, in Yuma, Arizona to Melvin Ray Owen. Ray and Lynda had one son and two daughters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, her parents, Winford and Pearl, her sister Donna, and her brother Joe.
Lynda is survived by her children, her son Robert Owen of Riverside, CA, her daughter Tamera Owen and her husband David Boyd of Crossville, Alabama, and her daughter Shawn Wiest and her husband Michael Wiest of Riverside, CA. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Tremper of Stoutland, MO, eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Lynda led a full life with many different adventures. After her marriage to Ray, they lived in New Mexico for a time before moving to California. During this time, they started their own construction business, RACO Building, which they ran together for 28 years, eventually becoming a custom home builder for many homes in Canyon Lake, CA. While living in California, they became very involved in the Pony of the Americas Club and showed horses in California and throughout the United States with their children. They, along with their children, bred, trained and promoted their horses nationwide under the Ralyn’s ranch name. In 1995, she and Ray moved to Missouri to be closer to Lynda’s family. They started a successful cattle ranching venture and remained in Missouri for over 20 years until Ray’s death in 2014. Lynda’s family then helped her and her ranch dog, Tiny, relocate back to California to be close to her son and daughter and their families in her retirement.
Lynda enjoyed any activity that allowed her to be close to her family and animals. Her family and her animals were always a big part of her life, and she loved every minute spent around them. She often looked forward to family gatherings around a yard full of kids, dogs, cats, horses and cattle, depending on the location. Lynda was an accomplished cook, baker, and seamstress. Her baking was legendary within the family, and we could always count on dessert, sometimes before dinner! She was our go to for any sewing repairs. Lynda will be greatly missed by her family, but we take comfort in knowing that she will be reunited with Ray.
Lynda requested that there be no services or ceremony. Internment will be private for immediate family.
