Mary Margaret Marino

Mary Margaret (Beutler) Marino passed away in Glendale, California, on September 7, 2026, at the age of 80. She was born in Glendale, California, on June 13, 1946, to Kenneth Gale (Kenney) Beutler and Alvina Opal (Toni) Pflueger Beutler, who had moved to Southern California from the Midwest just before World War II. Raised in La Crescenta, Mary attended Monte Vista Elementary and Rosemont Junior High, graduating from Crescenta Valley High School in 1964. She continued her education at Glendale Community College and later graduated from the University of California, Riverside. In 1972, Mary enlisted in the United States Air Force. While stationed at McChord Air Force Base near Tacoma, Washington, she met and married Herbert James (Jim) Marino, embracing his two children, Terry and Tina, as her own. Following their marriage and initial assignment in Washington, Jim and Mary were both stationed at separate bases in England in 1974. While overseas, they lived in Oxford and King’s Sutton—a quaint village in the Cotswolds. Returning to the States, they moved to Richards-Gebaur AFB near Kansas City, Missouri, where Mary gave birth to their third child, Kevin, in 1978. The family returned to Southern California in 1979 when Jim was stationed at Norton AFB, and they settled in Redlands for several years. After Jim retired from the Air Force and Mary completed her service, they put down roots in Perris, California. Following the passing of Jim in 2006 and her father in 2008, Mary returned home to La Crescenta, serving as a devoted companion and blessing to her mother in her final years. In every community Mary called home, she was an active church member, a devoted volunteer and especially loved singing in the choir. She was a true child of God. Through all her moves, one thing would never change: her unwavering loyalty as a faithful Los Angeles Dodgers fan. Mary is survived by her children; Terry Marino and his wife Sharon, Tina Canziani and her husband Tommy, and Kevin Marino; her grandchildren, Ryan, Erica, Kyerstin, and Brenden; her sister, Ann Waters; and a wide circle of beloved cousins and friends who will miss her dearly. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Crescenta Valley United Methodist Church at 2700 Montrose Ave., Montrose, California at 11 am on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, followed by a reception and lunch at the Waters' home at 2237 Crescent Ave., Montrose, California.
