Patricia Pezoldt is my mother in-law. I call her Mom.

About 6 months before Mom retired, she talked about taking up quilting. “It's something I've never done before & would like to learn”.
Mom retired & shortly thereafter, she joined a quilting group & she learned how to make quilts. Mom took her quilting skills to great lengths in what she has accomplished.
In the quilting group, mom made many new friends. She learned how to trouble-shoot her sewing machine problems when minor problems happened. I remember her telling me, “100% cotton thread is the best to use on the sewing machine”. It's hard to find but it doesn't break  off nor jam up your sewing machine”.
Mom made many quilts on her own. She made a quilt for all of her kids & she made a quilt for all of her grandkids. She also made quilts for her friends. Mom quilted holiday runners for the kitchen table. My husband & I received a pretty Easter runner from her.
Every quilt & holiday runner that mom made, she would have Dawn hold the quilt up high, so that mom could take a picture of the whole front of the quilt that she made. Mom would blow up each picture into an 8x10. These pictures would go into a cellophane packet & then into a large spiral notebook. Today, the notebook has about 50 pictures of quilts & table runners.
Mom plus her quilting group would get together & the ladies would team up & make Quilts of Valor for our Veterans. A very well, put together, fine looking Veteran's Quilt of Valor these ladies would come up with & make!
The Veteran's Quilt of Valor also came with a certificate presenting the quilt & thanking the Veteran for his or her service. My husband's friend from work is a Navy Veteran & he received a Quilt of Valor from mom & her quilting friends. 
My quilt from mom is my favorite birthday gift from her. My quilt not only keeps me warm on cool nights, it comforts me.
Farewell Mom. You will always shine like a shining star within my heart. Until We Meet Again...

Part Two
In 1994, I moved to Sarasota, FL in search of the American Dream. I'm sure it was hard for her to see me move so far away, but she had confidence that she had given me the tools to survive on my own, and in 2000 we bought our first and forever home. She made it to FL twice, once when my stepdaughter graduated High School, and then again when I graduated in 2010 with 2 Associate Degrees. Mom was born and raised a Southern Baptist, but she converted to Catholicism when she married Dad. She made sure we were in church every Sunday. This is how she taught us how to maintain a moral compass. Our compassion and love for the Lord was ingrained in us through her own faith. And for that we are extremely grateful. She taught us how to be strong and survive even after her partner passed away almost 30 years before her. Her passing at 91 is a testament and prime example as to how she lived her life with compassion and love for her fellow human beings. Today's world makes it very difficult to love others as we want to be loved, but Mom was a beacon of light and hope that everything always works out for the best, you just have to be strong enough and passionate enough to make it happen. Mom you will be sorely missed but always loved forever. May you find rest in the arms of Our Lord and Savior for eternity. May you and Dad spend eternity in the bliss that you both deserve forever.

Part One
I consider myself one of the most blessed individuals to have been born from the most amazing woman ever. There wasn't anything she wouldn't do for any of her kids. She was so loving and protective we always knew we were loved and never had to go without. I have so many memories that I'm not sure I have enough space to list them all. She was extremely active in our lives. Especially in school, she was president of the PTA while we were in Elementary School. She organized one Friday a month to sell ice cream novelties after school to any and all students. She would also hold a movie afternoon in our school cafeteria a couple times a year. Her biggest joy was seeing all of smiles and excitement on every child's face. She didn't stop there either in the seven years that I played little league she was always in charge of the snack bar providing goodies for everyone. I remember she always had a station wagon. So she could load all of us along with our friends up and go everywhere, the beach or the movies. Her whole life was dedicated to her children and making sure we never had to go without. Everything I learned about love and compassion came from her. 
Mom had a very strong sense of Community. During the 60's, when the country was in turmoil, she worked for the Garden Grove PD. She first started out as a civilian Police Matron. Her job was if a female was being arrested she had to go to the scene and be a witness for making sure procedures were properly adhered to. She didn't really care for this part of the job, but she stuck with it until they realized she was much better at transcribing reports is where she shined. She made sure she would not have to ever go back to the scene of an arrest again by becoming the best paper pusher in the Department, loved and respected by everyone she came in contact with.

I had such a great time getting to know you through my best friend n your daughter...Dawn.... We had many great chats about the angels n quilting....I will always cherish the angel fabric cushion you made for us... Sure made those baseball seats more comfy n the angel totes you created for us...I take both to every game we go to👍🏽.  Many ppl asked us where we got them 😀... That cud have been your next business 👍🏽.... 
And the cozies you made for my hot plates w Angel fabric 🤣.... They are the best.... I use them each morning....You always shared willingly and I enjoyed your stories of your family... You have had a long life and I know you are now in the arms of our Jesus ❤️
