Perry Eldon Pursley, age 75, passed away suddenly on February 9, 2026. Perry was Abby’s soulmate and the heart and soul of our family. He was a proud and loving father to his four children: Nina (Steve), Jeremy (Julie), Dustin (Michele), and Trent. He was also the “Cool Papa” to nine wonderful grandchildren — Rielly, Michael, McKenna, Kyle, Emily, Claire, Kaidyn, Brooklyn, and their newest grandson, Jackson — each of whom brought him endless joy.
Perry lived what could only be described as nine lives. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
Throughout his lifetime, he wore many hats and mastered many talents — working as a defense contractor, insurance adjuster, and PADI scuba instructor. His love for the ocean, water, and the tropics was unmistakable. Whether diving beneath the waves or traveling to beautiful destinations around the world, he felt most alive near the sea. A true historian at heart, Perry was exceptionally well-read and could speak knowledgeably about almost any chapter of history. He was also an artist, creating beautiful mosaic tile art, and found peace in tending his vegetable garden. There wasn’t much he couldn’t do.
Perry and Abby’s love story began in 1986 with a whirlwind romance — they met in August, were engaged by October, and married the following March. They would have celebrated 39 years of marriage this March. Together they built an extraordinary life filled with adventure, laughter, and world travels. They were true soulmates in every sense of the word.
Perry was the life of every party. There was never a dull moment when he was around. His contagious sense of humor, quick wit, and unwavering positivity brought smiles to everyone he met. He had a rare gift for making people feel lighter and happier simply by being himself.
In 2007, Perry survived a brain aneurysm — a true walking miracle. His recovery gave his family 19 additional cherished years with him, a blessing they will forever be grateful for. He continued to live with strength, joy, and the cheerful attitude everyone loved so dearly.
Perry will be missed more than words can express. Though our hearts are broken, we are comforted knowing his love, laughter, and spirit will live on in each of us forever.
