Remy Fonseca, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on her 79th birthday, May 26, 2025. Born in the Philippines on May 26, 1946, she was the youngest of six siblings. She outlived all but one, and she carried her role as the bunso with strength and connection to family throughout her life.
Remy was the mother of seven and grandmother to eight, and she found her greatest joy in being surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Her home was often filled with conversation, stories, food, and laughter. She especially loved doting on her grandkids and never missed a chance to hear about their lives or cheer them on.
She was not a perfect person, and she lived a life marked by both grace and complexity. Some of her choices brought pain, and not all of her relationships were easy. But she also loved deeply in her own way and showed up when it counted. She had a strong will, an engaged mind, and an open ear - always ready to hear a long story and give you her full attention.
Remy was known for her sharp math skills - her coworkers at CVS often asked her for help with percentages - and for her unforgettable cooking, especially her famous vegetable lumpia. She also had a playful side. She adored actor Luke Evans, whom she described as the full package: talented, handsome, and charming.
She welcomed her children’s friends with warmth and became a second mom to many. She could be generous with her time, her affection, and her food. As an aunt, she stayed connected with her nieces and nephews, and as a friend, she offered both candor and presence.
Remy was resilient. Life wasn't always kind to her, and she didn't pretend otherwise - but she kept going. Even when things felt unfair, she found moments of joy and pride, especially in the lives of her children and grandchildren.
She will be remembered for her strength, her cooking, her directness, her listening ear, and the way she made people feel when they sat with her at the dining table, sharing stories and simply being together.
