Roberto Gutierrez Diaz, born on June 10, 1955, in El Floreño, Nayarit, Mexico, passed away on October 27, 2025, at the age of 70. He was a resident of Perris, California. Affectionately known as “Beto,” he was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Carolina; children, Fatima, Maria-Lourdes, Leticia and Eduardo; grandchildren, Victor, Andrew, Jonas, Lucia, Benjamin, Elias, Elijah, Jonathan, Peter and Sebastian; his sister, Irene, and brothers Cruz and Everardo.
Beto immigrated to the United States at the age of 17 and worked his way up from general laborer to Ranch Foreman at McAnally Enterprises. Beto and Carolina met in 1973 and were married in 1976. They raised a family in Riverside County, working tirelessly to provide for the well-being and education of their children. Beto proudly became a United States citizen in 2004. Having essentially grown up an orphan, living off and on with various relatives, Beto only received an elementary education. He was primarily self-taught. Beto had a knack with cars and was generally able to fix anything.
This eventually led him to a second career in construction where he could put his varied skills to use.
Beto loved music. He sang, played the keyboard, percussion instruments, and even recorded several songs with his band, “Los Dreamers.” His love of music lives on in his grandchildren. Having grown up in coastal Nayarit, Beto had a lifelong love for the beach, and he was fond of reminiscing and looking at pictures from his homeland. He had a sharp sense of humor, always ready to crack a joke and laugh. Never one to sit still, Beto was always busy working with his hands. Spending time with Beto often meant helping him complete a project, followed by a carne asada. He enjoyed finishing off the day with good conversation while watching others in action: martial arts movies, boxing, soccer, or baseball games. Beto loved traveling and experiencing new places in both the U.S. and Mexico. During his lifetime he also traveled to Europe and Japan, coming home with hilarious tales to share for years to come.
Beto’s love for his faith and his family came especially to the forefront in his later years. The unifying theme among his last conversations was a request that you pray for him, and for each other. Viva Cristo Rey!
