

Roger Dean Schnabel, lovingly known as “Cork,” passed away on April 12, 2026, at the age of 77. In his final moments, his wife held his hand and kissed him goodbye, surrounding him with love. He was born in Huron, South Dakota, and later made his home in Riverside, California, where he spent many cherished years surrounded by family. Cork was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Barbara, with whom he shared 56 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, and unwavering commitment. He is survived by siblings, Shelia, Richard, Mike, Tara, and Marla. He was a proud father to his three children, Dean and wife Kim, Todd and wife Dayna, and Stephanie and boyfriend Rob. And an even prouder grandfather to Scott and fiancé Beth, Brooke and wife Dez, Aric and wife Emily, Nae, Ruben, Shelbi, Brodie, Tori, Salli, and Cameron. His legacy continues through his ten great-grandchildren: Lalonie, Zamirah, Adalina, Scott, Eliana, Emerson, Salvatore, Sutton, Jesse, and Jaime, as well as two precious great-grandchildren who are on the way. Cork was known for his strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit, owning and operating his own roofing company for over 30 years. He took great pride in his work and the life he built for his family. Outside of work, Cork truly enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He loved gardening and took pride in growing his own vegetables, especially tomatoes. He found peace in fishing, adventure in riding motorcycles, and happiness in camping trips. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family—especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who meant the world to him. He was also known for his sweet tooth, always ready with candy to share, a small gesture that created lasting memories for those he loved. In his younger years, Cork was a high school wrestler, a reflection of the strength and determination that would carry through his entire life. Cork will be remembered for his love of family, his generous spirit, and the countless memories he created with those around him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
