It is with grateful hearts for the many years we spent with our beloved father and grandfather that we share of his peaceful passing on April 25, 2025. It is difficult to truly capture 99 years so well lived, but Trevor left us all many stories and memories we will treasure forever.
Trevor Davies was born on March 11, 1926 in Porth, Glamorgan, Rhondda Valley, Wales to David and Gladys Davies.
After completing primary school, Trevor joined Her Majesty’s Royal Army (Royal Military Police). His stations included Germany, Malaysia, India, and Palestine. In each station, he developed deep bonds with the people and culture. He often spoke of the wildlife in the jungle of Malaysia and the air being filled with spices in India. One of his signature meals he’d cook was a spicy curry dish he learned in India.
While home on a brief visit from his military tour he met the love of his life, Barbara May Wells, and the two were wed in Porth, Wales, February 21, 1953.
Barbara and Trevor welcomed Cheryl in 1954 while on a job adventure in Georgia, and then Gail in 1956 back in Wales, and set sail for America for good with only two suitcases, and their two young children in 1957. As he always did, Trevor made friends along the journey to America and found work and made a home for his family in Southgate, CA. Steven and Caron joined the family shortly after they were settled in the states.
Trevor worked in many machine shops, and became a skilled machinist, eventually opening his own successful business: Welsh Engineering.
Trevor and Barbara enjoyed traveling the world together, visiting family and friends in Wales, and exploring new places. At any event or even aboard a cruise ship, Trevor could be found sweeping Barbara across the dance floor. Trevor and Barbara retired to a beautiful ranch they had always dreamed of in Menifee, CA, where they raised and enjoyed Arabian horses.
Trevor never saw a stranger, and lived every single day of his 99 years on this earth full of wit, some vinegar, the work ethic to achieve the American Dream, and of course a healthy Welsh tune in his heart — a melody that echoed in his laughter, his stories, and the legacy he leaves behind. Trevor’s greatest love of all was his family– his 4 children, 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. At family gatherings, he was always in awe of how large his family had grown, and proud of each of his children and their families.
Trevor is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara, and siblings. He leaves behind his children Cheryl (Bob), Gail (Joe), Steven(Debbie), and Caron, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Trevor’s ashes will be spread in his beloved Wales at a later date.
