Vincent Bernard DePalma Jr.

August 14, 1938January 22, 2023
Vincent B. DePalma, Jr has passed away into arms of our Heavenly Father on January 22, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife, Anne Marie DePalma (Farwell), his four children, Lisa Shirley, Anthony (Tony) DePalma, Peter (Pete) DePalma, and Christine Ford. He is also survived and beloved by eleven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Vince was born in New Jersey on August 14, 1938 to Vincent B. DePalma and Marie Josephine DePalma (Ferrigno). His family moved to California in 1950 when he was 11 years old. Vince attended Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks. He attended Glendale College, then Loyola Marymount University, where he joined Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity, and made many lifelong friends and brothers. After graduating from LMU with a bachelor’s degree in engineering in 1961, he obtained his Professional Engineering license, and subsequently attended California State University Long Beach, where he received his master’s degree in civil engineering. He practiced as a Registered Civil Engineer for his entire career, primarily for the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts where he was a manager and mentor to many. While attending college, Vince also worked at the Glendale library, where he met a young lady named Anne Marie. They married in 1961, and made their home in Westchester, then went on to live with their four children in Diamond Bar, Canyon Lake, and settling in Menifee in their last years. Vince and Anne Marie were an adventurous couple who took their family on many trips, including camping and many river trips; and Anne Marie was a supportive and eager partner when Vince decided to race vintage cars in his retirement. Always a fan of motorsports, Vince always had a fast car, a motorcycle, and loved to take his family and friends out on his boat. He was also a runner, and took up bicycle riding, participating in a 2-day 100-mile bike ride, up to his 80th year. Vince was surrounded by his wife, his four children and his grandchildren during the days and hours leading up to his death. He will be remembered for his steadfast leadership and love of his family, his analytical mind and clever wit, loyal friendships, and love of our Lord and Savior.
