Shirley A. Podjaski

(nee Olson) born to life at the Hospital in Iron Mountain MI on 10-18-28 and passed into eternal life on 3-10-14 at the age of 85. Preceded in death by her parents Harry & Verna Olson (Dettmann) and husband Leonard and brother Ron. Dear mother of Steven (Susan) – Waukesha, Ellyn (Joe) Dunne – Chenequa, Karen (Dale) Grossbier – Wisconsin Rapids, Lauren (Mark) Lewis – Menomonee Falls & Wayne (Patti) – Las Vegas. Grandmother to Sarah, Sandra, Eric, Shelly, Nicole and David; step-grandmother to Emily and Patrick. Sister to Carol (Ray) Phelps (Olson) of Kingsford MI and brother to Ron Olson (Margaret) of Aurora WI. Great grandmother to Isabel and John.

Shirley grew up in Aurora WI. Shirley was known as Smoky due to her dark black hair and graduated from Kingsford H.S. in 1946 and moved to Milwaukee to start her career.

She met the love of her life in 1950, Leonard in Milwaukee & they were married on 11-15-52.

When her children were of school age Shirley worked part time at Addison Warren Answering Service and later resumed her career in administrative office positions.

Shirley enjoyed family outings to Iron Mountain, Friess Lake and to the family’s Lake Camelot summer home, playing horseshoes, bowling, scrabble, sheepshead and other card games, sewing, travel, the piano and downhill skiing.

Leonard and Shirley retired to Las Vegas in 1986 and returned to Menomonee Falls in 2006.

Visitation is Saturday March 15th from 10:30 am to noon; a funeral service will follow at Grace Lutheran Church W196 N9525 Cross View Way, Menomonee Falls. Shirley’s family would prefer instead of flowers that memorials be given to Grace Lutheran Church.
