Alexander Flores

Alexander Flores, age 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at his home in Merced. He was born on March 7, 1943, to the late Victoria and Sebastian Flores and was raised in Le Grand, California.

Alex met his wife, Mary, in Le Grand in 1958, and they married in 1963. Alex worked as a project manager and draftsman for over 30 years, but his favorite role was being a grandfather. He worked for Larsen, Ohlinger and Jones from 1963 to 1977; Flores and Hayes from 1977 to 1983; and Larsen, Ohlinger and Holmes from 1983 to 1993. He continued working from home, drawing numerous plans for homes and businesses across Merced County. Alex will be remembered for his warm heart, joyful spirit, and the love he shared with those around him. His greatest joy in life was his family, especially his grandchildren. He treasured every moment spent with them and created memories they will carry forever.

Alex was preceded in death by his daughter, Victoria Tatum; his parents, Victoria and Sebastian Flores; his brothers, Daniel Flores, Bernabe Flores, and Sebastian “Tico” Flores; and his sisters, Ascencion Vargas, Sarah Flores, Rebecca Flores, Anita Mendez, and Dolores Zarate.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Flores; his sons, Tommy (Kelly) Flores and Donovan (Diana) Flores; his grandchildren, Aimee Tatum, Ambria Porter, Destiny Flores, Austin Flores, Sierra Corvelo, Ian Flores, Spencer Flores, and Gavin Flores; his great-grandchildren, Logan Benson; Aurora and Nolan Porter; and Clara, Charley, and Cole Corvelo; his brothers, Ruben Flores and Benny Flores; and his sisters, Juanita Barraza, Ramona Flores, and Virginia De La Cruz.

A viewing will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., with services following from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Stratford Evans, 1490 B St., Merced, CA 95341. A graveside burial will follow from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park, 1480 B St., Merced, CA 95341. A reception will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Club Mercedes, 569 W. 9th St., Merced, CA 95341.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that acts of kindness be made in Alex’s memory. Alex Flores will be deeply missed and was truly loved.
