Tragically before Alice's second birthday her mother Gertrude died. Relatives would then raise Alice. Alice attended school with her cousins in Madera California. In 1953 she married Douglas Paterson of Tulare California. In 1973 she married Leornard Wilson of Atwater California, to this union a daughter was born. Throughout Alice's adult life she had many jobs, but she established a career as Journeymen Level Senior Cashier, retiring from Save-Mart after 30 years of dedicated service.
Alice was a great supporter of the Martin Luther King Jr parade and the dance ministry of New Faith Tabernacle, donating her time cooking her amazing chili beans and fat man's pie, along with her finances. One of the things Alice enjoyed doing was playing bingo and going to the casino with family and girlfriends.
Alice was a member of New Faith Tabernacle Christian Church, under the leadership of the late Bishop Dwight Amey Sr. and Pastor Gwen Amey-Hollins. On Sundays when she could not attend services, due to her declining health, Covid lockdowns and while staying at Helping Hand's Memory Care Facility, her granddaughters would go and watch service with her. Alice especially loved hearing the choir sing, she would sing along with lifted hands, she would shout amen as the preacher delivered their sermon. She was a lover of GOD! Singing "Lord you are Good" and shouting "Hallelujah" the last hours in her earthy body.
Alice's love for her four children was unconditional and unmeasurable, her one goal for them was to make sure they had good lives and she succeeded.
Alice is preceded in death by her sister Lucille Amey, her brothers Coleman and Billy Amey, her oldest son Douglas Patterson, and her youngest daughter Mia Cedres.
She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory her daughter Sandra Smith (David) of Sacramento California, son Lance Patterson (Phyllis) of Chowchilla California, sister Lorraine Richardson and brother Ronald Amey both of Sacramento California. Nine grandchildren who adored her and loved her cooking David, Jameka, and Chad Smith, Latasha and Phylicia Patterson, Cherish Patterson, Daniel Frazier, Ciara, and Devon Cedres. Seven great grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Alice's smile and kindness will be missed by all who knew her.
